Take a moment to reflect on that. The only life that you can lose is the one you are living RIGHT NOW. In this very moment.
Not your past. Not your future.
Marcus goes on further:
“This means the longest life and the shortest life amount to the same thing. For what has passed is not ours anyway.”
We hear stories about people living till 100 and over. And we wonder if we will ever get to that stage.
Here’s a thought experiment.
You are standing at the Gates of Death. You happen to be carrying a piece of paper to show Yama (the God of Death).
It has two columns – one for happiness and one for fulfilment. And there is a number under each one.
The number is your score of how happy you were and how fulfilled you were just before the moment of death. It is calculated for you in the moment.
How do you think you WILL score?
This number is then carved in stone.
Yama then changes his mind. He decides to send you back to earth for a second chance. To be with your family. To live your life again.
But with one condition. You cannot be any happier or more fulfilled than you were before your moment of death.
You don’t get a chance to increase your score.
Now, how do you think you MUST score? Knowing that your life is WHAT IS in the moment. And you may not get a second chance.
Your life is happening NOW. The length of your life is irrelevant.
What is your life quality RIGHT NOW? Are you happy? Are you fulfilled?
In this moment.
That’s what matters.
Think about how you would score on your happiness and fulfilment quotient.
Are you happy and fulfilled right now?
If you answer NO, then what needs to change RIGHT NOW? What is the one thing you can change NOW to increase your happiness and become more fulfilled?
Go do it.
